The International Mangroves Action Day is 26th July. It is the day when all citizens, NGOs, and Government authorities spread the message on the importance of mangroves. NMEPS organized, in association with the Mangroves Cell of the Forest Department, Government of Maharashtra, mangrove plantation. About 50 residents from nearby housing complexes and students from various schools participated. Around 200 Mangrove saplings were planted. The Range Forest Officer, Ms. Seema Adgaonkar, showed the participants the different types of mangroves. Dr. Dhiren Pania, a mangroves expert and an Advisor to NMEPS, showed the participants the maps indicating the different areas in coastal Mumbai where mangroves are present and need to be preserved.
