An event themed around Recycle rubbish collection was organized by NMEPS on the Mangroves Action Day 26th July 2015. NMEPS has often complained and brought to the notice of various government officials, cases of debris being dumped into mangroves. On Mangroves Action Day, NMEPS volunteers took over the responsibility of cleaning up a section of the mangroves. A number of volunteers collected and removed waste materials dumped into the mangrove and adjacent water body in Seawoods. Dr Babasaheb Rajale, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Solid Waste Management (SWM), Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), supported the event and sent his team to help the volunteer to remove the debris.
The same afternoon, members of NMEPS including the President attended a Mangroves Action Day programme organized by Thane Creek Association. The rresident gavea presentation on NMEPS and its activities to preserve the mangroves, including filing a PIL in Bombay High Court, in order to ensure that the authorities follow the directions of the court.
